Summary of Position
Reporting to the Canadian Information Management & Portfolio leadership, the Data & AI Solution Architect will drive the evolution of AstraZeneca’s data landscape and AI integration initiatives. This highly visible role bridges advanced data engineering with modern AI solution architecture, serving as the technical leader designing and implementing enterprise-grade data solutions—including the adoption and integration of AI technologies. You will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, business analysts, and global partners to deliver robust end-to-end data platforms while enabling cutting-edge AI use cases. Using your expertise, you will optimize data flows, architect seamless AI-model integrations, and develop standard methodologies for data scalability, security, and compliance.
What You will do:
- Shape the vision: Lead the roadmap for data platforms and AI solutions that power AstraZeneca Canada’s innovation.
- Build end-to-end platforms: Architect scalable pipelines and cloud data solutions (AWS), from ingestion to model serving.
- Integrate modern AI: Design solutions using generative AI, agentic systems, and RAG; oversee technical reviews and validations.
- Drive outcomes with partners: Collaborate across IT, Data Science, Commercial, Legal, and external vendors to deliver measurable value.
- Set the standard: Champion standard methodologies in governance, security, observability, automation, and compliance.
- Show impact: Communicate progress, enable knowledge transfer, and help establish our Data & AI Center of Excellence.
- Stay ahead: Track emerging tech to keep us leading in AI-enabled healthcare.
- Empower the business: Help teams leverage data and AI responsibly, with strong privacy and security.
What you’ll bring
- Data & AI expertise: Hands-on architecture across cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT, data modeling/integration; experience with LLMs and multimodal AI. Bachelor’s in a relevant field; Master’s a plus.
- Engineering depth: Strong Python and SQL; AWS services (e.g., Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, dbt, Airflow); APIs; model serving; relational/NoSQL; familiarity with DevOps/MLOps and automated testing.
- Business insight: Translate operations into technical requirements and identify high-value AI opportunities.
- End-to-end delivery: Lead sophisticated initiatives from discovery to adoption, including stakeholder management and change enablement.
- Influence & communication: Build relationships and explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Compliance outlook: Solid understanding of privacy, security, and data governance frameworks.
- Impact orientation: Analytical, adaptable, and focused on outcomes in fast-paced environments.
